Rage Against the Machine at the 2008 Republican National Convention

On Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, during the Republican National Convention, we secretly booked the rock group Rage Against the Machine at Ripple Effect, the festival I was producing, on the grounds of the State Capitol. Towards the end of the event, the band made an impromptu appearance, and officials quickly shut off electricity to the event. So, we gave the band bullhorns and they finished with a 3 song acapella set in front of the stage. As they were finishing, another group of marchers approached the State Capital, and our event attendees merged with the other protesters. Things went downhill from there.
